Mrs. Mader enjoys hiking, skiing, reading true stories, crocheting and collecting children's books.

Among her many talents is painting, which she shares with BCS on a regular basis. Look in the hallways and office to see her creative work. She and her husband have four children, ranging in age from high school to adulthood.

There are many passages in the Bible that the Lord has used to challenge and encourage her in her relationship with Him. Lately she has been meditating on Philippians 4: 4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

"My heart needs a constant reminder to refresh, relinquish and rejoice. It shouldn’t be hard considering the great and glorious hope He has for all those who trust in Him," explains Mrs. Mader.

"Music is communication. We give and receive communication from music. From God, to God: worship. From ourselves to others: our heart, our feelings, our ideas, our experiences. By music we can learn about people from other times and places. God wants us to be good communicators because he wants to communicate with us and for us to communicate His message of good news," said Mrs. Mader about why music is important.

Kathy Mader graduated from Western Washington University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree and has continued her education with post graduate courses from Seattle Pacific University.
